Description	FIRST 5O YEARS OF THE COLLEGE OF SAINT BENEDICT (CSB) The expansion of the college began with the building of Mary Hall, reached its climax in the planning and construction of a fine arts building to give expression on the college campus to the Benedictine tradition of the cultivation of beauty and the arts. Groundbreaking for this huge structure of auditorium and forum which has a combined seating capacity over 1,000 occurred on November 27, 1962. This building, consisting of auditoriums, classrooms and studios, was planned for both the academics and the performance of the arts. On March 17, 1963, Mother Henrita Osendorf laid the cornerstone of the Fine Arts Building which was later named the Benedicta Arts Center (BAC) in honor of Mother Benedicta Riepp, foundress of the American branch of Benedictine women from Eichstätt. The contents of the cornerstone included: - Roster of the members of St. Benedict's Priory (Monastery), St. Joseph, MN - Roster of the current students and faculty of the College of St. Benedict - Rule of Benedict - Current College Bulletin - Current "Quarterly" - December issue of "The Benet" - Pages 1-100 from WITH LAMPS BURNING - Parents Day Program for March 17, 1963 - Photostatic copy of a letter by Mother Benedicta Riepp - Fragment of desk used by Mother Benedicta Riepp - Large Benedictine medal - Vatican Council II medal with the Papal Blessing (gift of Bishop Peter Bartholome)
