Baseball . . .
Continued from poge 3
Jerry Meyer, compares favorably with any in the league, and the duel involving any of these three and one of Osborne's aces, Ron "Bucky" May, Bob Klein-schmidt, Dave "Lefty" Perl, or John Rian, promises to be a tight tangle.
One important switch has been made in the usual Jay starting lineup. Osborne has moved center-fielder and handyman, Marty Rathmanner, to second base and installed Dick Matchinsky in the center garden in an effort to get more punch at the plate. Osborne is expected to continue with the rest of his regulars, Captain Don "Beezer" Carlson behind the plate, Russ Reiter at third, freshman Bill McGrann at short, Wayne Hergott at first.

SPRING FEVER was too much for Bob Hunt's pet alligator last weekend. He escaped from his cage in St. Mary's Hall and took off for the open spaces. Alert Jim Ramsay managed to recapture him before he had gone far.
Escaped 'Gator Is Recaptured
# Spitting and hissing horribly, "Fafnir," Bob Hunt's reluctant
dragon, was on the prowl. Somebody had let him out of his den, and spring weather did the rest.
"Somebody" proved to be Jim Ramsay, a senior English major who had time on his hands. Ramsay wanted to see some action from the sluggish five-year-old alligator. .
Faf nir had slept through most of the winter as though it were a mere 60-minute class period. He eats during only two months of the year, and all that he asks is to be left alone.
When Fafnir emerged into the spring sunshine last Sunday afternoon, lie found himself face-to-face with dozens of high school girls. They were here that day for the annual Prep music festival.
"Ish!" they said. "It must be stuffed."
When Bob Hunt came by and saw his pet out of its cage, he demanded that Ramsay restore him to his den in M141.
Fafnir was not very cooperative. Ramsay tried picking him up by the tail. Fafnir was menacing. Abandoning more or less direct action, Ramsay began to make like a matador with a small rug. Fafnir scorned these devices.
Finally Ramsay scooped up the two-foot long beast in an empty wastebasket and carried him back to the den with gingerly care.
Hunt is still a little displeased with Ramsay. Says that Fafnir caught a bad cold as a result of the outing.

SJU TREASURER RESIGNS
To Take Hospital Post
#Mr. James Trobec, treasurer of St. John's University, has resigned his position to become business manager of St. Cloud Hospital. The resignation will be effective June 1.
Old St. Greg Hall Converted To New Lounge
By Clair Norman #Alumni and students alike will be pleasantly surprised at the
renovation and redecoration of the old St. Gregory Hall when it is finished.
The room is being remodeled into a new and larger lounge. Tentatively it will be called the Centennial Lounge. Its purpose is to provide more facilities for gatherings and social events.
Because it is larger than the Gold Star Lounge and smaller than the university auditorium, it will fill a much needed gap. It will be of great use for receptions and lectures by guest speakers which previously had required more space than the Gold Star Lounge could afford.
The plaster on the walls has been removed so that the plain red brick will: show, as it does
Trobec was associated with St. John's almost continuously since he completed his studies here in 1941 with a major in business administration. In 1946 he was appointed assistant procurator. He has been treasurer since 1951.
He was very active in setting up the accounting system which has been in use here since that time and was a key figure on the important Student Scholarship committee. In addition, he frequently represented St. John's at meetings of college business officers.
Last year he was awarded a scholarship by the C arnegie Foundation for advanced summer study in the field of college finances at the University of Omaha. Just last week he spoke to a group of college finance officers at St. Olaf college on the operation of college laundries.
Trobec, who is married and has two children, lives at 103 Wood-hill Road, St. Cloud.
in the Art department. The floor will be done in asphalt tile.
Father Walter Reger, OSB, has announced that the proceeds from the coming baseball game between St. John's and the University of Minnesota will be used for the purchase of furniture.
NFCCS DELEGATES braved chilly weather for their annual outing at St. John's last weekend. The picnic portion of the program was transferred to the cafeteria.
