Work is nearing completion on the new press-box overlooking the natural bowl. It replaces the picturesque hay rack that served faithfully in past seasons. Soda pop patrons can sip in comfort at the confectionery bar under the projecting cover.
New Press-Box Tops Stadium
#The list of summer improvements is dominated by the work
on the new monastic wing. Crews of eight or more clerics have been working in shifts on what will be their new home next .year.
A fond hope of the Record sports staff for many years has been realized, with a bonanza for the general consuming public being added without charge. It is a new two-story press-box, located above and to the rear of the present concrete bleachers. The first floor of the 44-foot-long building is a refreshment stand, with the serving counter sheltered by the projecting floor above it.
Cast in contemporary lines, the press-box was designed by Rev. Joachim Watrin, OSB, and built under his supervision. The building is of block and wood construction, with the lumber stained by an oil and blue-pigment mixture. The redwood bleacher seats, sanded and repaired, were also painted.
The new press-box has individual compartments for sports writers and for radio announcers. The roof of the new building will be used by photographers.

Building Plans Rate Publicity
^Prominent national and foreign architectural publications continue to give wide coverage of architect Marcel Breuer's comprehensive building plan for St. John's.
The top American architectural monthly, Architectural Forum, ran a long article in its July issue. The feature was well illustrated with colored photographs of the proposed buildings. Sinkentiku, the leading Japanese architectural magazine, gave the plan prominent display in its June issue. Illustrated articles are also scheduled to appear in the Spanish monthly, Revista National Arqui-tectura; the French publication, Aujourdhui; the English monthly, Architectural Review; and the American publication, Arts and Architecture.
