CSB dedicates new bookstore
CSB's new bookstore in the recently renovated Mary Commons was dedicated Sept. 29, 1999. On display were the contents from the 1955 cornerstone of Mary Commons along with the contents of the new cornerstone to be reopened again in 50 years. Some of the contents in the new cornerstone included letters to the future from CSB President Mary Lyons; Prioress S. Ephrem Hollermann OSB; and CSB Student Senate President Melanie LaComb. A letter representing a day in the life of a CSB student, photos of current trends and a poem chosen by
U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky were also included in the time capsule.
According to Carol Marrin, CSB Bookstore director, "The additional space has given us the opportunity to expand our general book selection and to encourage special orders with easy access to a database ofcurrent books. The new bookstore features books written by campus authors, members of the monastery, Benedictine titles as well as women's titles, literature and poetry. Emphasis is given to women's interests including the domestic arts, spirituality and traditional healing and children's titles. The bookstore also features handmade greeting cards and gifts."
