Comments On New Directory

Mathias Ethen, '36, Portland, Oregon, has this to say: "The new alumni directory got here a few weeks ago. I like it very much. One can readily see that a lot of thinking has gone into its makeup and format. Anyone who attempts to keep tab on such a thing as 'Jumping Johnnies' by the thousands has perforce undertaken a formidable assignment. Hats off to you and hearty congratulations on a huge job magnificently done!"

Thomas J. Sinner, '60, Casselton, N. Dak. put it this way: "A terrifice job well done! How did you manage to do it? It's quite a revelation to find out where some of our friends are and what they are doing."

Rev. Matthew M. Kiess, OSB, '26, Collegeville, Minnesota in his usual jovial way said: "You did an excellent job on that new directory. Do you know that for three solid hours I could not break away from the book? What a pleasant surprise to be able to find out just where one can find some-

one and what he is doing. You deserve a lot of credit on so fine and excellent a piece of work."

John M. Kehoe, M.D., '40, Leadville, Colorado, writes: ' 'The directory certainly represents an immense amount of painstaking, accurate, and somewhat arid, and perhaps, thankless work. Hats off to you all! I hope some people see fit to utilize the Colorado addresses this summer.".

Philip Blenkush, '38, Los Angeles, California wrote: "I have received the Alumni directory and am very much impressed with its excellent organization and complete listing. It is certainly set up for ease of reference.'*

Stanley P. Hynes, '13, Winnebago, says: "On receiving the directory I set everything else aside— and the next few hours were spent searching out the names and locations of old acquaintances and reviving memories of St. John's. I imagine a lot of alumni are doing the same thing when they get their directory."

Alumni Marriages

John B. Hankel, '52, and Dor-thea McPharlin, were married on June 20—another Johnny-Benny romance. John is attending the "University of Minnesota.

Arnold P. Zent, '62, and Marilyn Barg, were married at St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph, on June 6. Arnold is now a member of the faculty at Lemmon High. School, S. Dak.

Robert E. King, '62, (Prov. Co. SE 1039, APO 613, San Francisco) was married to Vivian Larson, on June 7.

William B. Kauffman, 'BO, married Colette Peterson of Nauga-tuck, Conn., on May 30th. Bill got his M.S. from the TJ. of Kentucky after leaving St. John's and is now employed with American Cyanamid Co., New York, in the industrial chemical division.

Albert McConnell, '63, St. Cloud, was married to Margaret Nora Cantwell at the Church of the Nativity, St. Paul, on June 6.

Paul Loeffler, '49, and Mary Monica Keegan were married at St. Michael's Church, Grand Forks, N. Dak., on May 16. His brother, Austin, '48, was one of the ushers. The Loeffiers live at 3631 Vincent Ave., Minneapolis.

Alfred lives at 129 Sturgeon Eddy Road, Wausau... .We regret to report that the Rev. Paul Pitzenberger, '18, has resigned his pastorate at Spencer, Wis., effective June 1, because of poor health. Earlier this spring he suffered a serious stroke resulting in partial paralysis. On June 9 Father Pitzenberger commemorated the 35th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood which took place in the St. John's Abbey Church. Two Ordained At Maryknoll

#R ecently two St. John's alumni who j oined the Mary-knollers after finishing the Prep School here in 1944, were ordained on June 13 at Maryknoll Seminary in New York by Most Rev. Raymond Lane, MM. They are: Rev. Eugene A. Theisen, MM., '44, who offered his First Solemn Mass at Wadena on June 21; and Rev. James A. Collignon, MM, '44, who returned to St. Cloud to offer his First Solemn Mass at St. Paul's Church, on June 21.

Father Theisen's first assignment will be for missionary work in Chile. Father Collignon has been assigned to special studies.
