FATHER FLANAGAN'S On Sunday, October 2, after the regular moving
ORPHANS picture program, eight boys from Father
Flanagan's Orphan Home, Omaha Nebraska,
entertained the students with a number of recitations and talks. After their program the students made generous donations to the Home. The boys and their manager remained as guests of the University until the following noon when they left to continue their tour through the northern states.
ORDINATIONS Sunday morning, October 9, in the choir chapel of the Monastery, the Rt. Rev. Bishop James Trobec conferred the order of Subdeacon on Revs. Clarus Graves, O.S.B., and Bernard Karels; Deaconship on Revs. Linus Schieffer, Denis Parnell, Albert Heuring, and Theodore Krebsbach, O.S.B., and Revs. Peter Lauer and Paul Kunkel; the orders of Exorcist and Acolyte, on Mr. Bernard McNamee.
RECTOR'S DAY On October 11, the students were granted a freeday in honor of Father Rector. It was originally given on the preceding day but unfavorable weather conditions necessitated a postponement. The day was devoted, for the most part, to football games and squad practice in anticipation of the game with the St. Cloud Teachers' College. This freeday was especially appreciated because it was the first one of the year.
THE '21-'22 SAGATAGAN Work on the new Sagatagan was commenced
on October 14, when Father Mark, recently
appointed as Faculty Director of the Annual, called a meeting of the embryo staff. To date the staff for this year consists of John Gable, Editor-in-Chief and also Department Editor of Classes; Edward F. Jennings, Business Manager; Joseph Tucker, Manager of the Departments; Leonard Kapsner, Organizations Editor; John McNally, Editor of Dramatics and Features; John P. Broderick, Athletic Editor. The Sagaiagan of this year is to be not only an Athletic annual but a complete annual with a scope covering all the student activities and happenings of the entire year. The Athletic Department, while it will be as large as the Sagatagan of former years will form only a small part of the bigger and better Annual.
THE NEW COLLEGE HALL The reenforced concrete skeleton of the
new College Hall, which is being constructed
by the Gauger-Korsmo Construction Company of St. Paul, has been completed and the roof will go on before the snow begins to fly. All the contracts for the plumbing, heating and electric features have been let and work on the installation of these is well under way. The bricklayers arrived and began operations on the 24th of October and are expected to have completed their
